Opposition parties trying to divert attention, the cadres of 4 states ruled by BJP also rejected
NEW DELHI: On Thursday, the Union government strongly denied the charges made by the governments of West Bengal and Maharashtra that their proposals were rejected as being governed by the opposition.
Accusing opposition parties of undermining an important institution, government sources said the cadres of four states ruled by BJP have also been rejected this year. These states are Haryana, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh.
There is a well established system for the selection of cadres to participate in the Republic Day Parade. The proposals of cadres received from various States/TU and Central Ministries/Departments are evaluated in a series of meetings of the Committee of Experts composed of eminent people in the field of art, culture, painting, sculpture, music, architecture , the choreography, etc. , the sources said. It is pertinent to mention that the West Bengal Government cadre was shortlisted to participate in the Republic Day Parade 2019 as a result of the same process, they added.
Accusing opposition parties of inventing false issues to divert attention from their bad government, government sources said While West Bengal is seeing a massive collapse of law and order, the government in Maharashtra is busy fighting each other , as a result the portfolios have not yet been assigned to ministers.
For the Republic Day Parade 2020, a total of 56 cadre proposals were received (32 from States/TU and 24 from ministries/departments). Of these, 22 proposals, comprising 16 States/UT and 6 ministries/departments, have finally received have been shortlisted to participate in the Republic Day Parade 2020 after a series of five meetings, they added.
