India shares governance history with Afghanistan

NEW DELHI: The Secretary General and the Census Commissioner of India and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) organized a special capacity-building program for the Central Civil Registry Authority of Afghanistan (ACCRA). The program was held from December 23 to 30, 2019 in New Delhi, followed by a field visit to Chandigarh. Afghan officials also visited the UIDAI facilities to study in detail the AADHAAR initiative of India.

Program elements included the study of the system of registration of births and deaths of citizens, the system of statistics and vital indicators and AADHAAR. Participants also received practical experience with a live demonstration of the software and birth and death registration processes; and explained the census enumeration methodology.

The Afghan participants thanked India for organizing the course that would contribute to their efforts to improve implementation plans to create a population registration framework.

Previously, from November 13 to 17, 2019, FRRO New Delhi organized a capacity development program for officials of the National Statistics and Information Authority, Afghanistan, to help simplify their immigration procedures.
