21 dead by flood in Indonesia
JAKARTA: At least 21 people were confirmed dead Thursday as several parts of Indonesia were hit by
Thousands of people were forced to evacuate as fringes of Jakarta and nearby villages were submerged following rain , Al Jazeera reported.
The worst flooding is being considered since 2013 due to the torrential rains that caused landslides on the outskirts of the city.
On Wednesday, electricity was cut off in many Jakarta districts to avoid electrocutions.
Images from across the region showed houses flooded with water and cars submerged in muddy waters.
Jakarta 's domestic airport was also shut where almost 20,000 passengers are stranded.
