Aizawl FC signs four new players
KOLKATA: Aizawl FC On Wednesday he announced the signing of four new players when the transfer window opened in the New Year.
They are Zothanmawia (goalkeeper), Lalthlahlova (defender), Ramhlunchhunga (extreme) and MC Malsawmzuala (forward).
Zothanmawia had earlier played for Aizawl when the club won the I-League Second division title in 2014-15. He was also on the team when the club made its debut at the top level the following season. Then he went to Chhinga Veng FC and then moved to Chanmari FC.
Lalthlahlova and Malsawmzuala are also from Chhinga Veng and both of them impressed during the recently-concluded Mizoram Premier League. While Lalthlahlova was one of the best defenders in the tournament, Malsawmzuala finished as the top-scorer, having found the net 12 times.
As for Ramhlunchhunga, he is from Electric Veng FC and is considered to be one of the best young players that the state currently has. According to Aizawl head coach Stanley Rosario, Ramhlunchhunga holds the ability to ply on both sides of the field and will be in the squad that will take on Gokulam Kerala along with both Lalthlahlova and Malsawmzuala.
Speaking about the new signings, Rosario said: The four players are very talented and will replace the academy's youth.
The former I-League champions will take on Gokulam on Saturday, and will hope to start the New Year on a high. So far they have been below average in the tournament, having earned only six points from five matches. They have won one, lost one and drawn three.
