Andhra Pradesh: Three dead, 15 injured in tractor accident

VIJAYAWADA: Two women and a seven-year-old boy died at the scene, while another 15 were injured after an overpopulated loss of control near the village of Modalapalli under Tavanapalli Mandal on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Bujjamma (49), Lokamma (45) and Gautam (7). According to police, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the tractor was heading towards the Siddeswara Swamy Temple on top of a nearby hill as part of its tradition of offering prayers during the new year.

Police said the tractor crashed upside down while turning in a sharp curve. The locals came to his aid and managed to rescue some of the wounded who were trapped under the vehicle.

After receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and took the injured passengers to a local government hospital for treatment. A case was registered under section 304A of the IPC (which causes the negligence death). The three bodies were sent for autopsy. Additional research is still ongoing.
