The rhythm of Rabada seems to be off: Krishnamachari Srikkanth

NEW DELHI: Former Indian starter Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes the failure to click as a team has resulted in defeats for South Africa in his two World Cup matches.

In his column for the Times of India, Srikkanth wrote: When things go wrong at the beginning, teams generally tend to despair. For me, South Africa does not seem like a cohesive unit. Something is wrong. The talent is not in The question here is your inability to click like a team that has cost you both games. The batting at this moment seems too high. Kock Barring and Faf du Plessis , others do not seem safe. And as the captain himself pointed out after the defeat to Bangladesh, it's no use that the hitters keep getting 30 and 40 years. One has to continue and score big.

Kagiso Rabada's failure to make a big impact with the ball in both games puzzled Srikkanth.

Much was expected of Rabada. His pace seems to be off and that is pushing the other bowlers. Dale Steyn would have been useful as he has the experience of destabilizing India's rich batting products. But even he is out of the tournament. India, on the other hand, is playing its first game pretty late. What this program has done is give them a plan on how to approach the South Africans. India is starting again. Except for the pressure of being one of the company's favorites, the Indian camp should be relaxed and in an extremely positive mood, Srikkanth added.

Jasprit Bumrah, the best ranked international day bowler in the world, is ably supported by his fast teammates Mohammed Shami , Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Hardik Pandya .

"The trio of Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar & Shami is one of the best in the world. They know English conditions well & should be a handful to a middle-order that looks unsettled. However India's trump card will remain their swashbuckling opening pair. Both Rohit & Dhawan have done well on the big stage & have enjoyed batting in England in white-ball cricket. If India go on to do well in this World Cup, it would mean the duo have put the runs on the board," Srikkanth opined.

The current Indian team has powerful match winners with the captain. virat Kohli He himself being the greatest of all.

"In terms of balance & man-to-man strength, India look comfortably ahead & should rightly start favourites. The Rose Bowl is generally a wicket full of runs & in a game against two good sides, I would prefer the team to put runs on the board & create pressure as Bangladesh did. The Proteas might not have had a great start & one more defeat will almost close the doors on them but never discount them," Srikkanth signed off.
