CBI probe ordered for regularization of the decades-long absence of J&K engineer
SRINAGAR: The Governor's Administration Has Ordered An Investigation To Regularize Ten Years Unauthorized Absence Of A Well Connected Technician And His Subsequent Appointment As Managing Director (MD) Of J&K Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) By Two Successive PDP R&B Ministers, Said An Official Spokesperson. The Order Was Issued On Saturday.
Shonthu Is The Brother-in-law Of The Sister Of The Former PDP Minister, Altaf Bukhari, And Therefore Would Have Enjoyed The Patron's Patron To Regularize His Long Absence. He Was Initially Posted As General Manager (GM) Of JKPCC In 2015, When Bukhari Was In Charge Of R & D Control During The Term Of Sayeed As Prime Minister.
He Remained Unauthorized In A Gulf Country For About A Decade And Did Not Return Until Bukhari Became Foreign Minister In 2015, According To Official Sources. On March 2, 2018, Shonthu Became MD Of JKPCC When Naeem Akhtar Was R&B Minister And Corporation President, They Said.
After Numerous Complaints About The Functioning Of JKPCC - Namely With Regard To Corruption In Civil Contracts And Illegality With Appointments At Multiple Levels - The Government Had Appointed An Investigation Commission.
The Commission Advised A Probe By The Crime Brigade (CB) Regarding The Way In Which The Unauthorized Long Absence Of Shonthu Was Regulated, The Official Spokesman Said. However, Taking Serious Note Of The Case, The Administration On Saturday Also Decided To Refer This Case To The CBI For A Thorough Investigation And Action.
The Spokesperson Said That This Was An Important Step For The Government To Clean Up The Functioning Of JKPCC By Stopping And Eliminating Obsolete Agreements And Line Violations.
The Appointment Of Shonthu As MD, Who Was Illegal From The Outset, Was Also Referred To The CA For Filing An FIR And Taking Further Action, According To An Official Statement. The CB Was Even Asked To Investigate The Role Of The Presidents (Ministers Bukhari And Akhtar), An MD From JKPCC And The Administrative Secretaries In The Matter And To Take Action In Accordance With The Law.
