Amazon brings smart TVs from the Fire TV edition to India, Onida partners

New Delhi, December 11 () Amazon has partnered with Onida to bring smart TVs from the Fire TV edition in India, a measure aimed at helping the e-commerce company further strengthen its position in the burgeoning consumer market in the country.

The Smart TVs of the Fire TV edition were first introduced by Amazon in 2018 in the US. UU. And Canada. Earlier this year, the company expanded the range to the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria in collaboration with Dixons Carphone, MediaMarktSaturn and Grundig.

Amazon works on a licensing model for Fire TV smart TVs. He has partnered with Onida to launch products in India and is also open to work with other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

In the third quarter, Amazon announced that it has more than 37 million active users on Fire TV worldwide. It does not provide country specific numbers.

The move will also intensify competition with Flipkart, backed by Walmart, which sells smart TVs through its MarQ brand.
