Himachal Pradesh: Teacher arrested for sexually harassing 12 younger girls in Una
DHARAMSHALA: A school teacher was arrested by police on Tuesday after 12 students complained of sexual harassment. It is said that students are minors. They had accused their teacher before the head of the government school.
Investigations revealed that the school principal had called the sexual harassment committee that had filed a complaint with the police. An FIR has been filed against the teacher under the POCSO law and section 354 of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC).
The Police Superintendent, Diwakar Sharma, when contacted confirmed the incident. He said the teacher has been arrested by the police and will be presented to the court on Wednesday.
We are recording student statements. It was learned that the accused was a Sanskrit teacher at the school, he added.
Subsequent investigations revealed that students who have complained are studying in Class 8. The incident has sent shock waves in the region, as this is not the first such case in the district.
Earlier also, a student from a government school in the Una district had complained about her teacher. A few weeks before the victim, in this case, began to cry before the counselors revealed that she was pressured to change her statements and the police were forced to record the girl's statements again.
