Box office update: 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' by Kartik Aaryan beats Arjun Kapoor's 'Panipat', as it continues to dominate the domestic circuit

With 2019 turning out to be a great year for Bollywood with multiple pitches and clashes. Fans recently witnessed one of the most anticipated clashes of the year when Kartik Aaryan and Arjun Kapoor they faced each other at the counter with their respective films.

While Arjun joined Oscar-nominated director Ashutosh Gowariker for the periodic drama ' Panipat . Meanwhile, on the other hand, Kartik collaborated with Mudassar Aziz to entertain the public with a comedy film that is a new version of a 1978 film but with a bit of humor.

' Pati Patni Aur Woh ' which turned out to be Kartik's best opening film managed to rake in Rs 8.50 crore and surpassed the collections of his previous best 'Luka Chuppi' as per the report. With the film which also features Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday In fundamental roles, obtaining another crore of Rs 5.25 on its first Monday, the film reached a total of Rs 38.75 million in just four days. The report also suggests that the film had a good retention in the ticket office as the drop was less than 40% and is expected to end its first week around Rs 52-53 crore.

While Kartik, Bhumi and Ananya's multi-starrer is continuing to impress the audience, a good word of mouth has also turned the tides in their favour as well. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Gowariker, who brought Arjun and Kriti Sanon on the silver screen for the first time along with a talented actor like Sanjay Dutt, 'Panipat' has been doing a decent business in terms of a periodic film.

' Panipat ' which opened up at Rs 4 crore saw a good rise in its collections as it entered the weekend and saw a stunning growth on Sunday as it minted Rs 7.50 crore. With the periodic drama garnering another Rs 2.50 crore on its first Monday as per the latest report, the film had a drop of nearly 40%. The film reached a total of Rs 20 crore in just four days.

'Panipat' did decent business at the ticket counters but failed to surpass the collections of 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'. With Salman Khan 's 'Dabangg 3' all set to release on 20th December, both the films will be greatly affected as their run at the ticket office might have a huge impact. While trade experts are expecting Kartik's film to end around a total of Rs 75-80 crore by the end of its second week, Arjun's ' Panipat ' might turn out to be this year's biggest flop with its collections don't surpass the total collections of Anees Bazmee's multi-starrer 'Pagalpanti' in the domestic circuit.
