NEW DELHI: Union Interior Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that the decision to release detained political leaders, including three former prime ministers, will be taken by the local administration and that the central government will not interfere in the matter .

The minister's statement came after the leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury He asked the government when political leaders would be released, including the acting member and former Prime Minister Farooq Abdullah.

There is no need to keep anyone (leaders) in jail even for a day longer than what is required. When the local administration feels it is the right time, they will be released.
