MUMBAI: The newly formed (MVA) of Shiv Sena , Congress and the PCN achieved their first victory in the state poll with their candidate defeating the BJP in Parli in Beed.
The MVA emerged after Sena broke its alliance with the results after the BJP assembly and joined Congress and the PCN to form a government under Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
MVA candidate Ashrubai Kirawale defeated Ashabai Chopade of BJP in a survey conducted for the sarpanch post in the village of Sirsala on Sunday, about 480 kilometers from here.
By the way, Parli was the center of a fierce assembly fight between Pankaja Munde of BJP, then minister in the government of Devendra Fadnavis and the main leader of NCP.
Despite demonstrations led by large BJP fish, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pankaja, daughter of the unconditional deceased Gopinath Munde , lost to his cousin Dhananjay.
In a statement after the victory of the MVA candidate, Dhananjay Munde said: Sirsala is the largest in all of Parli tehsil. Surveys for the sarpanch post were conducted yesterday and the results are available today. First would be such a victory for MVA.
Kirawale won the seat by a margin of 1395 votes on Chopade, the statement said.
