Narinder Batra meets Amit Shah, reports on preparation for the Tokyo Olympics

NEW DELHI: The president of the Association of Indian Olympics (IOA), Narinder Dhruv Batra, met Monday with the Interior Minister Amit Shah and updated it on India's preparation for the Tokyo Olympics next year.

Batra, who is also the president of International Hockey Federation (FIH), discussed the possession of International Olympic Committee (IOC) session 2023 in Mumbai, during the 75th year of the Independence of India, which is subject to the approval of the IOC.

Apart from this, the celebration of the Men's Hockey World Cup in January 2023 in Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela was also one of the topics discussed during the meeting.

The Interior Minister also spoke about the progress, development and growth of Hockey that occurs in India at the local and elite level.

Both discussed the tender for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in India, where a city will be shortlisted by IOA for evaluation by the IOC of three cities, that is, Delhi, Odisha and Mumbai. Later, it will go to the IOC for approval.

The Fit India Movement, the Target Olympic Podium Scheme Program (TOPS) and the Khelo India Youth Games were also discussed during their meeting.
