Meerut Medical College HoD reserved for sexual abuse

MEERUT: A FIR was registered against Kapil Kumar Singh, head of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Memorial (LLRM) administered by the government late Saturday afternoon after accusations of sexual assault by a junior doctor.

The LLRM director, RC Gupta, has also set up a committee to investigate the accusation. The students had already approached the police and had registered FIR for when I learned of the incident. At the students' request, I ordered a three-member committee to investigate the matter, the principal told TOI.

According to the plaintiff, the accused doctor, who was alone in his residence, had called her to obtain signatures on the pending invoices when the incident occurred. The defendant tried to force her, but she managed to escape, he alleged.

When I was about to leave, he tried to grab me from behind. Despite my resistance, he again attracted me to himself and tried to kiss me and touch me inappropriately. When I finally pushed him hard, he threatened to fail me. Junior doctor said in his complaint.

However, the wife of the accused doctor, who is a gynecologist in the same medical school, said the accusations against her husband were false. I, along with my daughter and other acquaintances, were at home when the junior doctor and her two colleagues came to look for signatures on a pending bill. My husband refused to sign it after which she threatened to strip my husband of the HoD post, she said.

Meanwhile, dozens of students protested at the medical school police station on Saturday night, demanding the immediate arrest of the defendants. “The junior doctor contacted me around 8 pm on Saturday. After that, undergraduate and graduate students arrived at the local police station in solidarity with their colleague and obtained a registered FIR. We are also looking for the doctor's suspension until the investigation is over, Nirupma Gupta, secretary of the association of resident doctors, told TOI.

Based on the complaint, a FIR was registered under Sections 354 A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against the accused physician who has not yet been arrested. “We have registered the plaintiff's statement and she has been medically examined. He will now be presented to the court for his statement before a magistrate. The accused doctor is escaping and raids are being carried out to catch him, said SP (City) Akhilesh Natrayn Singh.

Initially we were looking for the accused doctor to get his statement about the accusation, but he chose to hide, which instantly puts him under the scanner, SP (City) said.
