Association of employees of CIL, SCCL to protest throughout the day for the lack of pension reforms

New Delhi, December 8 () A state-owned association of CIL and SCCL employees said on Sunday they will go to a one-day protest in the national capital on Monday, due to the lack of pension reforms in the coal sector.

The All India Coal Executives Association, under the banner of the Coal Pensioners Association of all India (AICPA), will organize a one-day dharna for coal pensioners at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on December 9 ( Monday), he said in a statement. declaration.

The association says that the pension of employees of Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has not been reviewed since 1998 despite a provision that requires a review of the Coal Mine Pension Plan (CMPS) every three years.

The Coal Mines and Miscellaneous Provisions Fund Act of 1948 paved the way for the creation of a statutory body of the Office of the Coal Mines Fund (CMPFO) to formulate and maintain a comprehensive pension plan for coal employees for the welfare of retired employees in the coal sector. .

After 50 years, a so-called sustainable pension plan emerged called CMPS-1998. Coal employers and executives are covered by CMPS-1998, which has been in effect since April 1, 1994 ... Despite the provision for review of the plan every three years, it has not been made and the pension once set in The time of retirement has never increased since the beginning, the statement said.

As a result, even the president and managing directors of state coal companies, such as CIL, who retired before 1997, receive a monthly pension of only Rs 1,000-Rs 3,000 per month.

While even the lowest level employees of the PSU, CIL and SCCL, who retire today receive more than Rs 10,000 per month as a pension due to the increase in salary in 2007 and 2017, salary review for executives and different NCWA (National Coal Wage) Agreement) in the last 20 years, the statement said.

Since the beginning of the scheme 21 years ago, not even once the pension has been improved, according to the statement. Since CMPS 1998 is a scheme notified by the government, the Center must intervene to rescue the scheme by suspending coal production in the country. SRS HRS
