The death of the Unnao rape victim is 'extremely sad', the case will be expedited: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: The prime minister on Saturday described the death of Unnao's gangrape victim as extremely sad and conveyed his condolences to the aggrieved family.

All accused persons have been arrested. The case will be taken to a fast-track court and punishment will be imposed, he said in a statement issued here.

The rape victim, taken by plane to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after five people set her on fire, allegedly died on Friday night.

After his death, the victim's body was transferred to the hospital's forensic department where a post mortem examination will be performed, after which his body will be handed over to his family. Post-mortem reports will be delivered to the police, hospital sources said.

The woman was burned by five men, including two of her alleged rapists, on Thursday morning when she was going to Rae Bareli to attend a court hearing in the case of rape filed by her.
