Diw GST stakeholder feedback for the new GST return system to be observed on Saturday

New Delhi, December 6 () Central and state authorities will organize a Diwas of opinion of GST stakeholders nationwide on Saturday to gather comments on the new system for submitting statements.

The system will be introduced as of April 1, 2020.

The focus will be on evaluating the ease of compliance and the burden of new returns so that merchants do not face any difficulty when returns are legally binding, according to an official statement.

These feedback sessions would be attended by all prominent chambers of commerce and industry and other organizations representing taxpayers and tax professionals and compliance managers, he said.

Tax officials will be available to retain taxpayers and help them prove the new returns. This is the first time after the introduction of GST that taxpayer consultation is conducted on such a large scale, he said.

On November 16, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman invited some GST taxpayers, hired accountants and tax professionals to evaluate first-hand the response to the various GST statements, especially the new statements that will be introduced from of the next financial year.

Several helpful suggestions were also received. This initiative of the finance minister was well received by all the fiscal fraternity and acclaimed as a step in the right direction for greater transparency in the tax administration, he said. Accordingly, he said the finance minister decided that such interaction with interested parties should be replicated throughout the country on Saturday to obtain much greater feedback on the new return system.
