Brendan Rodgers extends Leicester's contract until 2025
Leicester City have extended manager Brendan Rodgers contract until June 2025, the Premier league said the club on Friday after being linked to the vacant coach position in Arsenal .
Rodgers, who left the Scottish Celtic team to take over at Leicester in February, has overseen a fortune change at the club, which now ranks second in the league's ranking with the best defensive record, having conceded only nine goals.
The Northern Irishman was linked with the Arsenal job after they sacked Unai Emery last month and caused a stir when he said there was a release clause in his contract. Since then he has reiterated his desire to continue working at Leicester.
"When I made the decision to come to Leicester City , it was because I was excited about the direction the club was taking and how I could apply my experience to the journey," he said in a statement.
I came here with the purpose of adding something to that and helping the club build for the future.
I inherited an excellent team of personnel dedicated to progress and improvement and we have a group of players with whom it is a pleasure to work every day.
After starting the campaign with two draws, Leicester won 11 of his last 13 games, including his last seven, to beat defending champion Manchester City and stand eight points behind Liverpool.
Leicester are next at Aston Villa on Sunday.
