The airline tests vanilla flavored edible coffee cups to reduce waste

Air New Zealand has begun serving coffee in edible vanilla-flavored cups in an attempt to eliminate waste generated by the eight million disposable cups used by the flag carrier each year. Not only does it keep its warmth, but I can also eat this when I finish my coffee, said airline customer experience director Katie Holmetier in a promotional video posted on Wednesday.

Holmetier hoped the initiative would allow passengers and New Zealanders to rethink the way we interact with everything in the trash, reports Efe.

The airline, which already serves coffee in biodegradable containers, partnered with the national company Twiice to produce these edible products. We are always looking for ways to reduce waste on board, so we are testing a cup of Twiice edible biscotti coffee, the operator posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday. Who is eating their cup once they have finished what is inside?
