VC Sajjanar: The IPS officer who played a key role in the Hyderabad meeting
HYDERABAD: Eleven years after three men were sensationally killed in an encounter after killing a woman in an acid attack in Warangal, Telangana police shot dead four men early Friday for allegedly raping and killing a doctor veterinarian in Hyderabad. The officer who played a key role in both meetings is the 1996 IPS officer.

Following the arrests of Mohammed Areef, Shiva, Naveen and Chennakesavulu, allegedly involved in the group rape and murder of the veterinarian, there was a strong demand for instant justice throughout the country, a situation that recalls what happened in 2008.
In 2008, Sajjanar, then Warangal police superintendent, sent a team of investigators and the three defendants to rebuild the crime scene. The accused Srinivas Rao, P Hari Krishna, B Sanjay allegedly tried to snatch weapons from the police at the crime scene. In self-defense, the police opened fire and killed the accused in the first hours. After this encounter, Sajjanar became a familiar name and was hailed as a hero.
Fast forward to December 6, 2019, where on National Highway 44 in Chattanpally, locals were seen popping cookies and raising slogans once again in favor of Sajjanar, who is now the police commissioner, Cyberabad, after The four defendants were shot dead. The meeting took place a few meters from the underpass where the veterinarian died burned. Sajjanar, in the early hours of Friday, had sent a team of police, along with the four defendants, Areef, Naveen, Shiva and Chennakesavulu, to rebuild the crime scene. When the defendant allegedly tried to attack the cops at the scene, the police in retaliation opened fire and killed them all.
