Lucknow: Unnao rape survivor who was burned by defendant transported by plane to Delhi hospital
LUCKNOW: The rape victim who was burned by five men in Unnao was taken by plane to the Delhi hospital on Thursday night.
The woman who suffered a 90 percent burn injury and was in a very serious condition was taken to the Safdarjung hospital in Delhi by an air ambulance, Lucknow Commissioner Mukesh Meshram told PTI.
A green corridor was created to transfer it from the hospital to Amausi airport to ensure there were no delays due to traffic in Lucknow.
Meshram said a team of doctors accompanied the woman.
The additional chief secretary of the house, Awanish Awasthi, had previously said: We are making preparations to transfer the victim to Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, for better treatment.
The woman, who was raped in December last year, was heading to a court in Rae Bareli early Thursday when she was attacked.

The five men who allegedly set it on fire were arrested later. Two of them were accused of raping her.
While one of the two defendants was on bail, the other man had fled.
The police initially took the woman to the community health center, from where she was sent to the district hospital. Then she was referred to the Lucknow hospital, police said.
