AIMIM member retained for objectionable FB post against Mamata Banerjee

MALDA: A teacher, who is also a member of AIMIM based in Hyderabad, was arrested here early Thursday for allegedly posting objectionable comments on social media against the Prime Minister and TMC Supreme Mamata Banerjee said a senior police officer.

Motiur Rahman (35), a resident of the Chanchol area, was arrested around 2 am, hours after his derogatory comment against Banerjee and his dispensation went viral, the officer said.

Rahman was arrested under various sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Law after verification of the post by the police department, he explained.

According to the officer, a TMC supporter had also filed a complaint against the madrasa professor after he ran into the publication on the social media site.

35 years old All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen The (AIMIM) member was presented to the first division court of the court later in the day, which detained him in police custody for seven days, the senior officer added.

In condemning the charge, Imadul Haque, a local TMC leader, said Rahman should be strictly punished for his nasty comments against the prime minister.
