Manking Pharma launches medicine for infertility treatment in India

New Delhi, December 5 () The pharmaceutical firm Mankind Pharma said Thursday that it launched its generic Dydrogesterone tablets for the treatment of infertility and pregnancy-related complications in the Indian market.

With the launch, the company became the first Indian firm and the second to develop the drug, Mankind Pharma said in a statement.

The company's product is a generic version of Abbott's Duphaston tablets, he added.

The manufacturing process of Dydrogesterone is very complex, since it involves the conversion of natural progesterone, according to the statement.

Progesterone is a natural hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, implantation and successful maintenance of pregnancy.

He added that any progesterone deficiency during the different stages of the reproductive process can cause infertility, menstrual disorders and spontaneous abortion.

The launch of this medicine is an important milestone for Mankind Pharma. We are the first Indian pharmaceutical company to develop this medicine and the second company in the world, said the founder and president of Mankind Group, R C Juneja.

Currently, the drug is being launched only in India, after the company plans to launch the drug in countries where it already has a presence, he added.
