Monisha Unni passed away at the age of 21 in a car accident on December 5, 1992. She was shooting for 'Cheppadividya' and was to perform at a dance event at Guruvayoor temple on December 18. So she was traveling to Bangalore for rehearsal. Monisha's parents had booked an evening flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Bangalore for her. She booked for a morning flight and Monisha traveled from Trivandrum to Kochi along with her mother in a car. Monisha was sleeping on her mother's lap when the car met with an accident with a bus. While Monisha's mother survived, the actress never woke up from her sleep.
