New Zealand injured under the cloud for the Australia series
HAMILTON: Injured New Zealand cricket players Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme , who did not participate in the second Test against England, was in doubt on Tuesday for the next series in Australia.
Coach Gary Stead said they were recovering but had not yet shown that they had recovered their fitness.
Bowling spearhead Boult and all-rounder de Grandhomme both suffered muscle injuries during the first Test against England.
Stead said they have until Friday to prove their fitness with the team that leaves Australia the next day.
I don't know if I'm really sure, but I'm quietly optimistic that they are both tracking where we want them to be, Stead said.
The plan we have for both gives both the opportunity to be right for the first Test, but is still a bit far from knowing for sure.
New Zealand will play three Tests in Australia beginning with a day-night match in Perth which starts on December 12.
