Madhya Pradesh: 4-year-old girl battered, raped and strangled at Mhow
MHOW: Amid the outrage across the country over the gangrape and murder of Hyderabad, a four-year-old girl was kidnapped while sleeping with her parents on the road, beaten, raped and then strangled in the early hours of Monday.
The boy's body was found wrapped in a plastic sheet in an abandoned building near a hospital, causing panic in the area.
She was sleeping with her parents near a bridge when she was kidnapped, said Mhow police station, Abhay Verma.
The family noticed his disappearance at dawn and went to the police. A little later, the body was found and sent to autopsy, which confirmed the violation.
Gynecologist Rupali Joshi and pediatrician M K Mahobiya also examined the body and concluded that it was raped before being strangled. Doctors found several wounds on her head, indicating that the rapist brutally beat her before the rape and murder.
There are likely to be more people involved, Mhow police suspect
The police suspect that there may be more than one person involved, and the family probably knew them. Statements of family members and people residing nearby are being recorded. Police are reviewing CCTV images of the area from where she was kidnapped and where the body was found.
Mhow SP Dharmraj Meena additional and forensic experts examined the crime scene.
Indore's SSP, Ruchi Vardhan Mishra, held a meeting of the research team and is monitoring the investigation. The police have registered cases of kidnapping, rape and murder against unknown persons under the IPC and POCSO Law.
A chillingly similar crime took place in the same place on June 28, 2017.
A 10-year-old girl was kidnapped while sleeping with her family under the bridge. She was found injured near a railroad yard and taken to the hospital. A 40-year-old man was arrested for the rape.
