Government begins to teach people fundamental duties
NEW DELHI: The law ministry has undertaken a mass outreach plan to educate people about their fundamental duties as part of the one-year celebration of the 70th year of the adoption of the Constitution.
As part of the broader outreach program, the Center has contacted the Indian Bar Council to involve students of law schools who will be asked to make PowerPoint presentations to schools in their areas by educating Students about fundamental tasks.
At least 70 eminent personalities will be identified in each state and their comments will be recorded and promoted on social media about these duties, said Justice Secretary Alok Srivastava in New Delhi on Monday.
Similar efforts will be made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where fragments of eminent international personalities will be included in the Constitution of India and will be promoted on social networks. All other central ministries have been asked to undertake the dissemination plan during the next year.
It is crucial that everyone be aware of the values and principles enshrined in our Constitution and that citizens are aware of the duties of citizens, including fundamental duties, for a vibrant democracy, a political organization and responsible citizenship, said Srivastava.
The focus of the campaign will be on the duties of citizens and motivating them towards the duties of the nation, said the secretary. The one-year trip will culminate with a major event that will be organized at the IGI or Vigyan Bhavan stadium in New Delhi, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will administer a promise to citizens and address the nation. The date for the event has not yet been finalized. It will be broadcast live to the panchayat level.
In addition to government departments, the government has developed a plan to involve municipal and commercial agencies, schools, colleges and hold national presentations on the Constitution and fundamental duties. Indian embassies and high commissions have been asked to conduct talks and seminars focused on the glorious democratic history and heritage of India.
Activities to lift the curtain include films about the Constitution, fundamental duties, interviews, talk shows, messages and appeals from eminent people focused on the duties of citizens. These short films and videos will be broadcast by Akashvani, Doordarshan, LS and RS TV and PIB during the campaign.
